WHAT
Smokin' for Gold is a KCBS Sanctioned four meat BBQ competition.(Governors State Championship proclamation pending)& CBBQA Team of the year points event.
Teams will set up on a lush grass area at the beautiful Placerville fairgrounds
Entry Fees
- $250.00 for Saturdays KCBS event until September 1st then $275.00 after.
- $ 50.00 for Sundays Sportsman's grill-Off by September 1st, then $75.00 after.
- All teams competing in Saturdays KCBS event will receive a custom event plaque.( your chance to add to your collection )
PUBLIC ADDMISSION
$8.00 admission for adults
$5.00 for children 12 and under
$5.00 parking
Includes admission to sportsman expo and BBQ cook-off
Team Dinner & breakfast
A Dinner for our BBQ teams up to 2 team members will be catered for our Competition teams on friday night and a pancake breakfast for teams on saturday morning, (Yummy) additional tickets can be purchased.
Fairgrounds staff needs head count for Friday evening’s dinner, (7pm) Saturday morning’s breakfast, (7am) no later than 4pm Wednesday, Sept 29th. Additional tickets for either meal may be purchased for $10/each. (Two tickets for each meal included with entry fee). Please email expo@eldoradocountyfair.org, or call (530) 621-5860.

Placerville Fairgrounds / 100 Placerville Dr, Placerville, Ca, 95667
Directions:
From Hwy 50 Eastbound take Placerville Dr./Forni Road exit. Veer right - go over freeway go through two lights (crossing Fair Lane) Proceed approximately 1/4-1/2 mi, just before Shell Station (on right) turn right onto Armory Road. Proceed approx 200 yards, pass the Veterans Memorial hall, pull to right of road. The first gate on the right will be the BBQ Team entrance, if arriving on Friday, Oct 1 between the hours of 11am-7:30pm you will be escorted onto the grounds, as the Sportsman's Expo will be open to the public.
If you arrive any other time, enter through the 2nd gate (Blue Gate Entrance). The Lawn area for BBQ set up will be on right, you will be given a packet with information, and your space assignment.

Cookers Q & A
- Will there be electricity ? / Yes 110 is available @ no charge.(for cook site only) You must bring your own 12/3 wirecord.
- Is there water on site? / Yes, for all cook sites (one cook site per team) but bring your own hoses and splitters(150'of hose should work)
- Can we buy ice on site? / we are working on having a ice machine on site to purchase ice.
- Are there any hotels close to the event? / Best western Inn, 6850 green leaf Dr, 95667 / (530) 622-9100
- Can we bring RVs? / Yes, but only one vehicle will be allowed next to your cook site, all teammates must park in dsignated parking lot.
- Where will we be setting up? / 5 acres of grass adjacent to the rodeo arena, flat with a few dips.
- Arrival Time? / Any time starting Friday October 1 2010, Some one will be on site 24/7.
- Are there any Stores close? / Yes. There is a BelAir within a couple hundred yards.
- Is the event held rain or shine? / Yes, rain Or shine, sorry no refunds
